Speaker:

Julie Janeway, MSA, JD

Julie Janeway has been a Michigan life sciences and health law attorney for twenty-six years. She is the co-owner and General Counsel of Principled Healthcare Consulting, the principal attorney at Janeway Law PLLC, and also serves as the external General Counsel for Advize Health. Previously, she served as the Interim Chief Legal Counsel for an international healthcare company operating in four countries, and she practiced with Foley, Baron, Metzger & Julip, PLLC, heading the Healthcare Law Department. Her law firm practice included compliance, risk management, healthcare professional licensing defense, business/corporate law, employment law, pharmacy law, PSO/PSES (PSWP) development, audit response/defense/mitigation, independent internal and parallel investigations, contracting and other fields of healthcare and life sciences law, and all related training for healthcare entities, practitioners and practitioner organizations, and other businesses and associations in the healthcare and life sciences industries.

Program Description:

A recent report from the World Health Organization estimated that over 3 million patients could die each year from healthcare associated infections if something isn’t urgently done. Effective, yet simple infection prevention practices, such as regular hand hygiene, proper sterilization of equipment, and adherence to guidelines for the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), allow workers to treat patients safely while creating an environment with much less risk for the public.  Join Julie Janeway, MSA, JD and Linda Weirauch, MSN, RN, CPHQ on Thursday, May 15 from 12 PM ET-1:30 PM ET to share in a lively and interactive discussion about the critical role an effective infection prevention program plays in safe patient outcomes, but also best practices and tools to ensure your own organization is compliant. Infection control is a cornerstone of modern healthcare. It plays a critical role in safeguarding patient health and preventing the spread of infections. By prioritizing infection control, healthcare facilities can continue to provide high-quality care and maintain public trust. 

Objectives:

    3. Participants will understanding of Healthcare Workers safety guidelines for transmission prevention

    6. Attendees will learn and be able to understand the legal requirements and consequences associated with infection control/prevention compliance and noncompliance
